Facebook Diversity Category

Facebook is allowing businesses using Facebook Pages to identify as diverse businesses. By identifying your business as diverse, your business may be highlighted with other diverse businesses in places like the Businesses Nearby feature, which can make it easier for people in your area to find and support your business. For example, if you identify your business as a women-owned business, your Page may be highlighted with other women-owned businesses in your area on Businesses Nearby.

To designate a diverse business category, your business must be at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by one or more individuals from one of the following diverse business categories as outlined below. Learn more on how to add this to your social media profile [Learn More]:

  • Minority-owned
    • If you select minority-owned, you’ll be asked to choose the ethnic group that best represents the majority of your business’s ownership. When selecting an ethnicity, you’ll choose one of the following:
      • American Indian or Alaska Native
      • Asian
      • Black or African-American
      • Hispanic
      • Native Hawaii or Other Pacific Islander
      • Two or more ethnicities
