HarpCade – Press Start

After months of construction and logistics, Metuchen’s HARP-Cade has opened up to the joy of residents and the community! Join Chris, Mo and the Hailey’s Family on Friday September 30th for their official grand opening with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3pm hosted by the Metuchen Chamber of Commerce.

Hailey’s Harp & Pub and its owners, Chris Flynn & Mo Atzbi, have been a favorite landmark for the community since 2009 and has provided continued support to major community events through food drives, supporting local community events & tours, and providing its residents a local watering hole to relax, watch a game and enjoy al fresco dining.

When owner Chris Flynn heard the continued cries for an arcade from residents, he approached property owner and Metuchen Downtown Alliance chairman, Eric Berger, about expanding his business to an adjoining property at 15 Station Place. The initial plans for the arcade began in the spring of 2016 with the ground breaking in July of 2016.

One key feature of the arcade was its ability to leverage and expand the existing footprint of their successful restaurant and pub which is situated in the front of the arcade. This enables the arcade to serve drinks and food as well as host a separate room of classic games (including pinballs, video games and action games) for families to enjoy.

“The arcade is a great extension of our business and a way to have us meet the needs of our customers which are patrons of all ages from babies to centenarians and everyone in-between.” said co-owner Chris Flynn.

“The response from our soft opening on September 7th has been great and we look forward to being a part of helping Metuchen be a destination town since this is one of the only arcades in the area and the only one that has both food and drink in addition to games.” from co-owner Mo Atzbi.

The official grand opening for the HARP-Cade will be Friday September 30th with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Metuchen Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Metuchen Downtown Alliance at 3pm and activities throughout the afternoon and evening with Creative Twist Events with family activities and of course, the ping-pinging of the pinballs and Pac-Man around!

The Metuchen Downtown Alliance is excited about the new addition and the growth and development of new and existing businesses downtown. “The Metuchen Downtown Alliance is here to help every new business in the district off to a successful start. My hope is we see continued collaboration among community leaders to make Metuchen a great place for businesses to startup and grow in the future.” said Isaac Kremer, Executive Director for the Metuchen Downtown Alliance.
